The sold out 6-issue miniseries event of 2004-2005 — written by Geoff Johns (THE FLASH, TEEN TITANS) with art by Ethan Van Sciver and Prentis Rollins — is collected for the first time, complete with the preview story from Wizard Magazine! Hal Jordan was considered the greatest Green Lantern of them all. But Jordan lost control, allowed himself to be corrupted and transformed into the villainous Parallax. Later, Jordan reappeared and made the ultimate sacrifice — a sacrifice that allowed him to become the Spectre, the Wrath of God.
After several years of activity on Earth, The Spectre became restless and sought a way to prove himself worthy of that noble reputation. See how a man born without fear and seeking to rebuild his life, puts cosmic forces into motion that will have repercussions not only on Earth but across the universe.
This volume also features an introduction by best-selling author Brad Meltzer and a new cover by Van Sciver! |

In the 1990's DC wanted to start fresh with Green Lantern so they made him go crazy , kill the corps, and become Parallax. Much later Hal Jordab/ Parallax died saving the sun or some bull.
But Hal Jordan is brought back in this four issue mini series by Geoff Johns and Ethan van Sciver.
The story is that Hal Jordan is now the host for the Spectre but Parallax is coming back. Kyle Rayner who'd been Hal's replacement while he's been gone recovers his body from the sun and brings it back to earth. Now not giving alot of spoilers but Hal Jordan is revived and there's an explanation of why he went crazy and killed some people.
The Writing is good and is easy to read and understand for new comic book fans. The artwork by Ethan Van Sciver is spectactular. It's highly detailed giving a some what realistic view of the comic. I reccomend to anyone even if your not a green antern or comic book fan. |

This is my all time favorite mini-series. I have always been a huge fan of Green Lantern, and particularly Hal Jordan. When they replaced Hal, with Kyle I was practically devastated. I knew it was inevitable that they would have to bring him back, but it took 10 years to finally do it.
Geoff Johns is an amazing writer and he makes it all worth it in the end. Hals return is jaw-dropping and filled with scenes that make you want to cheer out loud at the return of this iconic hero.
This miniseries could not be better. |

I read Secret Origin before this, and I found that very beneficial. This book is a whole lot to swallow with no previous knowledge of the Green Lantern universe. Even with just Secret Origin under my belt, I felt overwhelmed fairly often. When the book does, however, get around to explaining itself, it becomes very entertaining. The afterword notes at the end help a lot as well, for those lost in translation. I reccomend reading that after the comic itself.
Rebirth is awesome, but it may have to be read twice. It involves a lot of characters and plotlines that can initiate confusion. The good thing is, that it doesn't try and lose you. It harps back on core elements and comes out fairly simple in theme. If it were not for the kick-a%% dialogue and wicked artwork, Rebirth would fail on fun level. Seeing all the Green Lanterns in action was a blast, even though I just met them. And the crossover element was done better than some Marvel events I've read.
To sum it up, Rebirth is a hard read, but a good read. Now that Johns has dished out all the information fairly about Lantern history and future, one can say it is all uphill from here. |

| If you even had a slight interest in Green Lantern and Hal Jordan then buy this book. Don't even think "hmmm, maybe not", it's totally worth it. Great bridging between what's taken place before (sums up nicely like 10 years+ of major story elements), and reintroduces Hal Jordan as the true badass he is. This book will make you a GL fan and have you buying all the volumes. |

| Holy cow!! I have never read a comic book, let alone a Green Lantern comic, so a friend recommended this to me and I immediately fell in love with it. It's a fantastic story with fantastic characters, that you just can't help but love, and a great journey about overcoming fear and finding your inner willpower. And, the materials provided in the product really helped me catch up on any backstory I was missing. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone who is a long-time Green Lantern fan, or someone like me who is just getting started. |
